Jose Rizo-Patron serves as Chief Executive Officer of Team Wendy, responsible for leading the company’s strategic direction, growth, culture and overall operations. Jose works directly with Team Wendy’s management team to execute the company’s vision to deliver innovative, protective and best-in-class products to users across military, law enforcement, search and rescue, and adventure markets.
Prior to joining Team Wendy in 2011, Jose held several leadership positions across varied industries with an emphasis on developing and growing business in emerging international markets. Most recently, Jose was the founder and managing director of an international business development and risk management services firm. Jose holds an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a B.S. in Marketing from Birmingham-Southern College.
Originally from Lima, Peru, Jose has lived in several countries and is a native Spanish speaker. Since arriving in Cleveland in 2011, he has become a huge fan of the city, and especially of its Cleveland Indians.
Amy joined Team Wendy in 2005 as quality manager. In her current role as Director of Operations, Amy leads Team Wendy’s operations department, which includes managing new product launches, production and quality assurance. Amy has more than 25 years of experience managing quality, engineering and manufacturing teams in a variety of industries, and has obtained multiple professional certifications including CQE, CQA and CQM. She has also completed specialized training in problem solving and product development.
Ron manages Team Wendy’s product development initiatives and builds partnerships with academic and government research groups. He has been the principal investigator for Team Wendy’s SBIR and BAA funded R&D initiatives, including the recent Natick BAA award “Polymer Structure Design Options for Improved Headborne Impact Protection,” which aims to develop and integrate new helmet liner technologies to protect the warfighter from traumatic brain injury. He has led Team Wendy’s blast testing initiative to study the interactions of blast waves with helmets and the brain through live blast testing, and is an active member of ASTM F08.53 Committee on headgear and helmets.
Mike joined Team Wendy in 2014 with 10 years of sales and operations experience in the civilian sector. As Director of Sales and Business Development, he oversees the business advancement and sales activity within all industries served by Team Wendy. Mike received his commission in the United States Marine Corps in 2000 and served with the 1st Marine Division in Iraq. He holds an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University and a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame. Mike has lived in the Cleveland area since 2004 where he enjoys hunting and spending time on Lake Erie with his family.
Halle Nagel joined Team Wendy as director of Marketing Communications in 2017. In this role she is responsible for the direction of the brand, leading marketing communications projects with a focus on building a differentiated brand through customer-centric initiatives that create a meaningful connection with people.
Prior to joining Team Wendy, Halle spent the last nine years helping to launch the Dallas, Texas office of Jackson Spalding, the largest independent marketing communications agency in the southeast. There, she helped with a wide range of projects, such as the launch of Chick-fil-A’s spicy chicken sandwich to the development of Klyde Warren Park, a 5.2-acre park built with public-private funds over a 10-lane freeway in the heart of downtown Dallas. Most recently, she led the content marketing and social media strategy for Houston-based Mattress Firm, the largest multi-brand mattress retailer in the U.S.
Halle holds a B.A. in Political Science with minors in Studio Art and Photography from Southern Methodist University. She is thrilled to be back in her hometown of Shaker Heights where she enjoys spending time outside with her husband and their two Labrador Retrievers, Buckeye and Dallas, aptly named after the two places they love the most.
Shelly Simpson is the Director of Human Resources not only for Team Wendy, but for the entire Dan T. Moore portfolio of companies. In this role, Shelly oversees employee relations, talent acquisition and development, payroll administration, employee benefits, worker’s compensation and employment law compliance. As Team Wendy has experienced significant growth in the last several years, she helps to ensure that we have the right team in place to keep pace.
Prior to joining Dan T. Moore Company in 2007, Shelly held titles of HR manager and HR director at other Cleveland-area companies, such as the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Parker Hannifin. She graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Healthcare Administration and a minor in Business Administration from Ohio University. Shelly later went on to earn an MBA from Tiffin University where she completed the program with honors.
Shelly loves sports – both watching and playing – namely basketball, football and hockey. When not watching a game, you can likely find her eating Mexican food, or better yet, on a beach in Aruba, which is her favorite place to travel with her husband and their two children.
Dan Gibbons is the Director of Contract Administration for Team Wendy. In this role, he oversees the execution of government contracts and manages export control compliance, both critical functions of our sales department. During his tenure here, Dan has had leadership responsibilities across various areas of the business, most recently serving as director of finance before transitioning his focus to contract administration.
Prior to joining Team Wendy in 2007, Dan held senior management positions with other Cleveland-area companies, including CFO, accounting manager and financial reporting manager. He has an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University and a B.S. in Business Administration in Accounting from Cleveland State University. Dan’s education has allowed him to excel in a total systems approach, employing teamwork across all departments.
Outside of work, Dan can be found on the golf course, biking or coaching high school sports. Dan lives in Westlake with his wife and is the proud father of two daughters and one son.
