The Team Wendy® SAR Celebrates More Than 5 Years Serving Search and Rescue Communities

The Team Wendy SAR was the first purpose-built search and rescue helmet to combine tactical capabilities with key industrial and mountaineering performance standards.

When the Team Wendy^® SAR helmet debuted a little over five years ago, it was the first of its kind to provide critical tactical features in a helmet that meets multiple protective standards and certifications required in the environments faced by the search and rescue community.
 
Team Wendy introduced the SAR in 2015 after learning FEMA workers used several different helmets depending on environmental situations. We integrated many of their most important needs into a single helmet, which is why it's used by 100% of U.S. federal FEMA teams, including some of the largest fire departments. They include:

The SAR Tactical™ helmet and SAR Backcountry™ meet the same safety standards. Both satisfy requirements for the mountaineering helmet standard (BS EN 12492:2012) and the standard for whitewater helmets (BS EN 1385:2012). They also meet ACH blunt impact requirements and additional off-crown impact requirements of the European standard for high-performance industrial helmets (BS EN 14052:2012). Both rescue helmets have an expanded polystyrene impact liner with Zorbium^® foam comfort pads in two thicknesses, and a BOA^® Fit System that allows operators to dial in the precise fit with a single hand.
 
The SAR Tactical™, however, is optimized for use with night vision devices as it features a machined aluminum Wilcox^® NVG shroud insert. The helmet also includes a 4-point CAM FIT™ Retention System with a chin cup for enduring stability. It’s compatible with various EXFIL^® accessories and includes two Magpul^® MOE^® Picatinny-style rails and mounting hardware.
 
The SAR Backcountry™, which gives operators the option of a rail system, features a glass-reinforced polycarbonate shroud more than capable of running helmet lights or cameras. It includes a sport-style under-the-chin retention system and Fidlock^® magnetic buckle for quick, one-handed operation.
 
Our SAR helmets were designed with search and rescue operator efficiency in mind, because we know every moment counts when it comes to saving lives. By incorporating integrated and scalable mounting platforms onto the SAR helmet systems, Team Wendy provides the SAR operator with greater flexibility to perform the task at hand with compatible Team Wendy helmet accessories like the SAR Visor, SAR SOLAS Reflective Kit and the Shroud Headlamp Adapter.
