The Lighter Side of Customer Service

When you think of a customer service representative, you probably think of someone who is on the phone all day long, answers a lot of questions, takes customer orders and assists customers with whatever problem/concern/issue they may have. Though all of that is true, some days we get some unexpected entertainment.
Case in point: Like most online stores, we include a comments section for customers to add notes or special instructions when entering their online orders. Some of the funnier requests we have received include “Please draw something Star Wars related on the box,” “Draw me a dinosaur”(didn’t specify what type) and “Send your sexiest lady.” We chose to keep her instead of loaning her out.
Recently we received one in particular that caught my fancy and I just had to respond. One customer posed the question, “Do penguins have knees?” I had no idea so, curious, I decided to Google it. By doing so I found out that there is a series of books by David Feldman called
Imponderables
.
Do Penguins Have Knees?
was the title of a book in this series. It’s joined by other gems such as
When Do Fish Sleep?,
Why Don’t Cats Like To Swim?,
How Does Aspirin Find A Headache?
and
Why Do Clocks Run Clockwise?
I got such a kick out of this that I responded back with “Penguins do indeed have knees! Do elephants jump?” (
Do Elephants Jump?
is actually another book title in the series). Alas, I never heard back... I guess just posing the penguin question was enough fun for him and he didn’t want to play anymore…
So if you are planning on placing an order with us in the near future, be sure to include a funny comment as we enjoy interacting with our customers.
