Team Wendy® is founded by Dan T. Moore as a memorial to his daughter, Wendy, who tragically passed away from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) following a ski accident.
Team Wendy’s first helmet, a ski helmet featuring an innovative, proprietary Zorbium® foam liner, is launched to protect others in honor of Wendy Moore.
The Zorbium® Action Pad (ZAP™) adjustable helmet liner system is released and becomes the approved liner system for all standard issue ground combat helmets worn by the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy, a tender which Team Wendy still maintains today.
Team Wendy moves its production and offices to a new facility: the Cleveland Industrial Innovation Center (CiiC).
Team Wendy obtains ISO 9001:2008 Certification with Design, an international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS) and demonstrates the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Team Wendy launches the EPIC® Combat Helmet Liner System, representing a revolution in helmet pad protection, comfort and customization.
Team Wendy releases its EPIC Air® combat helmet liner system for increased air flow and optimal comfort.
The launch of the EXFIL® Carbon, a tactical bump helmet, marks Team Wendy’s return to the production of complete helmet systems.
The CAM FIT™ Retention System launches, featuring a boltless design with a BOA® Fit System for optimal fit and even weight distribution.
The EXFIL® LTP (Light, Tactical, Polymer) bump helmet is released, offering users the same accessory mounting capabilities and CAM FIT™ retention system as the EXFIL® Carbon.
Team Wendy's first ballistic helmet, the EXFIL® Ballistic, is released. The helmet features a hybrid composite shell for increased strength and a unique geometry for optimal fit.
The first purpose-built search and rescue helmet to provide tactical mounting capabilities, the Team Wendy® SAR, is introduced.
The production floor in Team Wendy’s manufacturing facility is expanded to 62,000 square feet to better serve the continually growing product line and customer base.
In order to maintain ISO certification, Team Wendy transitions to the revised requirements of the ISO 9001 standard released in 2015. In addition to the initial quality requirements in the 2008 standard, ISO 9001:2015 utilizes a process-based structure with emphasis on risk-based thinking, context of the organization and engagement of interested parties.
Team Wendy celebrates its 20th anniversary and a return to its roots with the launch of the M-216™ Ski SAR helmet. The M-216™ offers mounting capabilities not previously available to rescue operators in any ski- or snow-rated helmet.
The EXFIL® Ballistic SL and a host of new ballistic helmet accessories are released. 15% lighter than the original EXFIL® Ballistic helmet, the EXFIL® Ballistic SL features a new Rail 3.0 accessory mounting system that allows tool-free installation of the new EXFIL® Ballistic Visor and EXFIL® Face Shield. EXFIL® Ballistic Ear Covers are also released, which are compatible with both the EXFIL® Ballistic and EXFIL® Ballistic SL.
Team Wendy releases two new helmet accessories mid-year: the EXFIL® All-Terrain Mandible and the EXFIL® Ballistic Mandible.
The mandibles attach tool-free to the EXFIL® Ballistic and EXFIL® Ballistic SL helmets fitted with either the EXFIL Rail 2.0 or EXFIL Rail 3.0 accessory mounting system.
The year closes with the launch of numerous new helmet accessories and two additional products:
The Radio Rig, Team Wendy’s first ever communications chest rig, is released, offering a better approach for accessory and cable management to the SAR community.
The CloudLine® System, a new drop-in helmet liner featuring the softest Team Wendy patented Zorbium® foam to-date, is released shortly after.
Team Wendy increases its manufacturing facility to more than 165,000 square feet to include production, as well as state-of-the-art testing, engineering and chemistry labs.
Team Wendy is acquired by Avon Protection to create a global leader in head protection systems for the military and first responder markets.
