Team Wendy Ceradyne plays a critical role under the Team Wendy umbrella and within the Avon Technologies plc family of brands. In 2020, Avon Protection acquired both the Ceradyne ballistic protection business from 3M and Team Wendy, bringing together complementary capabilities in helmets, materials science, and protective systems under a single global organization.  Today, Team Wendy operates as a subsidiary of Avon Technologies plc, while Ceradyne’s advanced ballistic technologies are integrated into the helmet portfolio—expanding the company’s ability to deliver a comprehensive range of head protection solutions.  This strategic alignment positions TWC as a cornerstone of Avon Technologies’ helmet offering, combining best-in-class innovation, manufacturing scale, and global reach.

With decades of experience supporting military programs, TWC continues to be a trusted supplier to the U.S. Department of War. The organization has a long-standing history of delivering high-performance protective solutions, including participation in major helmet programs and ongoing contract awards. Ceradyne’s heritage includes billions of dollars in federal contracts for protective equipment, including helmets, while Team Wendy Ceradyne continues that legacy with active programs such as the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Integrated Head Protection System (NG IHPS), where it has received multiple delivery orders for advanced helmet solutions.  This sustained partnership reflects both technical credibility and the ability to deliver at scale for mission-critical applications.

At the core of TWC’s innovation is its expertise in ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) composites and Ceradyne’s patented seamless shell technology with no thru holes. These ballistic shells are formed using proprietary thermoplastic molding processes that eliminate through-hole penetrations, resulting in a continuous, structurally optimized helmet surface.  The no thru-hole design enhances structural integrity and ensures consistent ballistic performance across the entire shell, while the lightweight UHMWPE construction reduces overall system weight without sacrificing protection.  This combination of material science and design innovation enables Team Wendy helmets to deliver superior survivability, durability, and operational performance in the most demanding environments.

With manufacturing capabilities to supply the DoW spanning both Salem, New Hampshire and Cleveland, Ohio, TWC has scalable, high-quality delivery in support of critical military programs while maintaining strict control over materials, processes, and performance. Beyond production, the innovations developed under TWC for U.S. military applications—ranging from ballistic materials to system-level integration—serve as a foundation for continued advancement across the broader Team Wendy portfolio.
